TrackEdge ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our trading journal, portfolio tracker, budget planner, and reporting service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as:

• Account information (email, name) when you sign up
• Trading data you enter (trades, holdings, watchlist items, price alerts)
• Budget data (income, expenses, savings goals)
• Report preferences and notification settings
• Preferences (currency, theme, onboarding status)
• Payment information processed by our payment provider (we do not store card details)

We also collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and usage data to operate and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Process transactions and manage your subscription
• Authenticate your account and secure access
• Deliver performance reports, price alerts, and notifications you have opted into
• Send service-related communications (e.g., billing, security, password reset)
• Send re-engagement notifications when you break a logging streak (you can disable this)
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for:

• Essential cookies — Required for authentication, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled.
• Preference storage — Your theme, currency, onboarding status, and cached company profile data are stored in local storage for a faster experience.
• Analytics (optional) — When you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used and to measure subscription conversions. You can change your preference at any time.

You can manage cookie preferences through the consent banner when you first visit. To change your choice later, go to Settings → Advanced → Cookie preferences (when signed in), use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or manage cookie preferences now. We do not use advertising cookies.

5. Data Sharing

We never sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information:

• Authentication and database — To store your account and data securely
• Payment processing — To handle subscriptions (we never store your card details)
• Hosting and infrastructure — To run the Service and scheduled tasks
• Email delivery — To send performance reports, price alerts, and notifications you opt into
• Market data — We send ticker symbols to fetch prices; no personal data is shared

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (from Settings → Advanced), we permanently remove your personal data, trades, holdings, budget items, watchlist, alerts, notifications, and all associated content from our systems. You can export all your data as JSON before deletion.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access and receive a copy of your data (via the Export feature in Settings)
• Correct inaccurate data (via editing your profile and trades)
• Delete your data and account (via the Account Deletion feature in Settings)
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability (JSON export includes all user data)

To exercise these rights, use the export and account deletion options in Settings → Advanced, or contact us directly.

8. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, row-level security policies in the database ensuring users can only access their own data, and secure API authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in locations outside your country of residence, including the United States, where our infrastructure providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
